In addition to mythology and folklore, reports of the remains of very tall humans have been made, however they are rarely verified. Whether or not to think they were real is up to each individual. Here are some excerpts from Robert Lyman’s 1971 book “Forbidden Land” on the following topics:
Workers in East Wheeling, now in West Virginia, discovered a decomposing human corpse while plowin a vineyard in November 1856. According to eyewitnesses, the skeleton was around 10′ 9′′ (3.28 meters) tall.
Soldiers digging a trench for a powder magazine in Lompock Rancho, California, in 1833 discovered a human skeleton that was 12 feet (3.6 meters) tall. The specimen was surrounded by several stone axes, sculpted shells, and porphyry stones with accompanying enigmatic markings. It also possessed a double row of teeth.
The guano mining operation unearthed many mummified human bones with reddish hair that were said to be between 6′ 6″ and 8′ (2 and 2.5 meters) tall in Lovelock Cave, which is located 70 miles northeast of Reno, Nevada.
These bones were allegedly used to support local Paiute Indian mythology about giants they named Si-Te-Cah. There don’t seem to be any authenticated Paiute tales regarding giants or the Si-Te-Cah giants, though.
In 1928, a farmer in Tensas Parish, Louisiana, close to Waterproof, dug a trench to bury waste and discovered a 9′ 11′′ (3.02 meters) skeleton.
A child buried his dog in the surrounding Madison Parish in 1931 uncovered a skeleton that was 10 feet two inches (3.1 meters) tall.
The following are some further examples of extraordinarily tall people’s bones discovered worldwide:
In 1890, at the Bronze Age cemetery of Castelnau-le-Lez near Montpellier, France, fragmentary leg bones and the head of a man believed to be over 11 feet tall were found.
Human skulls measuring 28, 31, and 32 inches in circumference were discovered in 1894 by workers digging a water works reservoir in Montpellier, France. All the artifacts were taken to the Paris Academy of Sciences where a “savant” stated they belonged to a race of men over 10 feet tall. The bones that were discovered with the heads were similarly of enormous dimensions.
In 1879, a skeleton measuring 9′ 8′′ (2.95 meters) was removed from a mound close to Brewersville, Indiana.
Near mounds in Clearwater, Minnesota, the bones of seven giants with receding foreheads and full double teeth were discovered.
Soviet researchers found the gigantic human skeleton in the Tian Shan Mountains of Central Asia in 1945. The shin bone was 33 inches long and the skull’s circumference was 33 inches.
