Its sting hurts a lot, but it would hurt even more if they went away. In the last debate of the Royal Geographical Society of London, the Earthwatch Institute said that bees are the most important living thing on the planet. However, scientists have also said that bees are already in danger of going extinct.
Recent studies show that up to 90% of the world’s bees have died out. The reasons vary by region, but some of the main ones are massive deforestation, lack of safe places for nests, lack of flowers, use of pesticides without control, and changes in soil, among others. WHY HAS BEES BEEN DECLARED AS THE MOST VALUABLE LIVING BEING ON OUR PLANET? With the help of the Foundation for Agrarian Innovation (FIA), the Apiculture Entrepreneurship Center of the Universidad Mayor (Cheap Mayor) and the Apiculture Corporation of Chile (Cach) did a study. They found that bees are the only living thing that doesn’t carry any kind of pathogen, whether it’s a fungus, a virus, or a bacterium. 70% of the world’s crops depend on these insects. To put it more clearly and directly, we could say that bees help 70 out of every 100 foods.
Bees also help plants reproduce, which is important because millions of animals eat plants. Without bees, animals would soon start to go extinct.
Bees make honey, which we can eat and which is also good for our health and skin in many ways.
Einstein is said to have said, “If the bees disappeared, people would only have 4 years to live.”
WHAT ARE SOME REASONS AND HYPOTHESES FOR WHY BEES ARE DYING OUT SO FAST?
The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology has come up with a theory that says the waves made by mobile phones are to blame. They say that the waves bees send out when they call can confuse them and make them lose their sense of direction, which puts their lives in danger.
Daniel Favre, a biologist, and other researchers did 83 tests that show that when bees are near these waves, they make a noise that is ten times louder than usual. This behavior is thought to let other bees know what is going on. They are in danger, so they need to get out of the hive.
